In this section you will find plenty of information about us, the trip and the equipment that we are carrying

  • About Us   ( 2 Articles )

We are a 30 something couple from West London. We originally met when we were 14 and we dated for 3 months before Zoe gave Justin the boot and everything went quiet for 15 years until.... Zoe contacted Justin through Friends Reunited and suggested we meet up for a drink. When we met we were both in very strange places in our lives and wepromised to keep in contact, but as happens in life this just didn't happen until Zoe contacted Justin (perhaps he was playing hard to get as some form of revenge for earlier heartbreak?!) to invite him over for her 30th birthday. Finally Justin agreed to turn up, a lovely time was had by all and Justin had fallen for Zoe again (well, she is very beautiful, if a St Petersburg, RussiaHuaraz, Perulittle annoying). That was June Gobi Desert, Mongolia2004, now nearly 18 months later we are embarking on this trip to see who will kill the other one first. The next year or so lies in these web-pages. It will be interesting. Stay close.

  • About The Trip   ( 2 Articles )
Tsunami, ThailandThe comments vary massively when you explain the concept of a trip like this to different people. From the complete support and personal recommendations as to what to include down to the fear and doubting. All these reasons are exactly how we feel entering into this trip. We are feeling tremendous excitement, awe, fear, doubt, amazement, wonder, trepidation and many others (consult Roget's Thesaurus). All of this is healthy. The one thing we do know about this trip is that we do NOT know how it will end. But, how did it start?........
Well, a number of things. Firstly both Zoe and Justin love to watch documentaries about pretty much anything, but places (home and abroad) seem to sate our appetites more than anything else. Wanting Tsunami, Thailandto reach out and touch, smell, taste and feel these places is quite a force (and you do look silly licking the Telly). Secondly we were in Koh Lanta, Thailand when the Tsunami hit. We were on the beach, watched it roll in, then legged it up a mountain. Once the adrenalin dies down many emotions come into play, but the main thing that you realise when you face death (This was not the 1st time for Justin) is that you are really alive and it really could just end in a blink. Life is WAY too short. Thirdly, Justin has spent 11 years working in sales for a variety of people, but at the time was working for a company where a number of directors had left him with a bad feeling about his job and he decided that nobody had the right, no matter how much they paid him, to make his life sad. All this and more just made this trip more than a niggling thought..... so where are we going?
  • About The Equipment   ( 8 Articles )
As well as catching trains, buses, taxis, boats and anything else we choose to use we are also going to do a number of treks and expeditions. For all Trains, buses, taxis, boats, trekthis we feel that it is best to invest in some serious equipment. On the left is a list of items that we are using. We have chosen our items based on weight, practicality and durability.

We have researched these items well and hard before making our decisions. At present (i.e. before leaving, but having used the equipment extensively in the UK) we are both very happy with what we have, maybe our opinions will change and we will feedback our thoughts on our equipment once we have used it all over the world.

On each page we hope to give some insight into our choices and why. There are also links (where applicable) to Justin's reviews on Outdoorsmagic. By the way, check out Outdoorsmagic anyway as it is just the best web-site for ALL outdoors activities.
